This movement, the new taste a la grecque that came out of Herculaneum and Pompeii, was of course just a trend. The fondness for the ancient world covered not only high art, but strongly emphasized the arts and everyday objects and thus the entire domestic living culture. Whether pots, cups, sugar bowls, pens, candle holders, paperweights, furnaces, monuments – all took on the appearance of antique vases, urns, columns, and tripods.
