How to Wash Antique Silver Goblets

But of course it is important after investing so much money in such items that you take care of them correctly.   If you don’t then of course over time the silver can become tarnished and this in turn can cause the goblets to become discoloured.    No longer will they shine when the flames of candles at the table reflect off them instead they dark grey or black color will make them look old and tired.

Although most people prefer to only use their antique silver wine goblets for special occasions if you can it is best to use them on a daily basis.   This will further help to prevent them from becoming tarnished.

You need to remember that is metal is relatively soft and so will scratch very easily.   When it comes to washing your wine goblets make sure that you never use any abrasive cleaners, wire wool or toothbrushes to clean them.   Instead they should be washed by hand in a solution of warm water and mild detergent with a soft sponge.   Then after washing and rinsing make sure that you dry them thoroughly with a clean soft cloth to prevent the water spots forming on them.

Step 2 – How to Polish Antique Silver Goblets for Wine?

When it comes to polishing antique silver wine goblets many experts recommended that this should be carried out several times each year.   It is important that you use a paste specifically formulated for silver.   To apply it make sure that you follow the instructions of the manufacturer of the product to the letter and do so using a soft cloth or sponge.   Then after applying this you should wash and rinse them before then drying.   After drying you need to get another soft clean cloth so that you can buff the silver to make it shine once again.

What you must never do is use any kind of silver tip if you notice the goblets have become tarnished as this may actually cause some of the patina to be removed as well.   This in turn will cause damage to the actual silver and you will find that they won’t last as long as you had hoped.

Step 3 – Storing Your Antique Silver Goblets for Wine

When it comes to storing antique silver wine goblets it is best to place them in a small wood chest to prevent them coming into contact with too much air.   If the box doesn’t come with separate compartments for each goblet before placing them inside wrap them in a soft cotton or velvet cloth.
